Our Veterinarians
Dr Ian Burns
Veterinarian
Dr Ian has been in the practice for over 40 years. In his spare time he enjoys growing vegetables, talking to his chooks and goldfish, and being bossed about by his cats.
Dr Ann McGaffin
Veterinarian
Ann graduated from Melbourne University as dux of her year in 1992. She worked in several clinics around Melbourne, in country Victoria and overseas before joining the team at YVC in 2002. For many of our Yarraville Vet Clinic families Ann has looked after the health and wellbeing of their pets from their paediatric to their geriatric years, and for some of our long term clients she has done so for multiple generations of pets. Ann divides her time at the clinic between consulting and surgery and is available by appointment.
Outside of work Ann is a busy mother of five, with two gorgeous human teenagers and three mischievous furry babies. In her spare time there is nothing Ann enjoys more than sharing a wine with friends.

This is Dr Eric. He loves health and fitness plus a good cup of coffee!
Our Nurses
Fiona
Head Vet Nurse
Most clients will already know Fiona as she began working part time with us in 1985, starting as a junior work experience student while finishing school and completing a science degree. working her way up to be our full time head nurse. Fiona keeps the clinic running smoothly and is the go to person for all of our staff. She has a wealth of experience and is integral in training our junior nurses. She enjoys all aspects of nursing, however does have a love for surgery and anaesthetic monitoring. Fiona also does grooming on top of her full time nursing, appointments can be made by calling the clinic.
Fiona has three adult kids, she loves camping and looking forward to travelling with her husband in their new caravan. She also has a beautiful geriatric Labrador Snickers and fell in love with one of our adoption cats Misty who is now the boss of the household.
Anne
Head Vet Nurse
She has two kids Max and Amelia and two pets at home, her cat Willow and the cheeky Labrador Macy. In her free time you will often still find her at the clinic grooming, but she also loves live music, reading and catching up with friends.
Christine
Vet Nurse
Christine has been with the clinic since completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018.
She is often up for a chat and happy to assist with all enquiries as well as give lots of pats and cuddles to our patients.
At home, Christine is kept busy by her 3 fur children and human family.
Alex
Vet Nurse
Alex has been working at the clinic since early 2020. She graduated with her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing in 2023 and since then has done further education in wildlife care.
Wildlife is a huge passion for her, using her spare time to rescue and transport as a volunteer for Wildlife Victoria.
In any other spare time she loves spending time with her cute, but naughty fur babies Charli and George. Also enjoying travelling, gardening, reading and spending time with her friends and family.
Jess
Vet Nurse
Jess has graduated with her Associate degree in veterinary nursing in 2023 with Latrobe university.
In her spare time Jess loves spending time with her horse and training others, another passion of hers.
Jess has two beloved cats Jellybean and Teddy, a Jack Russell named Ralph and a horse named Zeus.
She prides herself in providing the best standard of care to all of our patients.
Sheree
Vet Nurse
Sheree’s always had a passion for animals so in 2023 she decided it was time to study and completed her Cert IV in veterinary nursing and has been with us since early 2024.
Outside of work you’ll mostly find Sheree on the netball court or competing her horses Alero and Red. For quiet time she enjoys a weekend spent exploring with her husband and dog Poppy, couch time with her cat Tiddles, feeding the chickens Agatha and Penny. And of course a cheeky cocktail or two!
Ketria
Trainee Nurse
Ketria is currently studying her certificate IV in veterinary nursing, she is often found cuddling with the animals and helping out where needed.
At home she enjoys spending time with her three animals, Harley the German shepherd, Pepsi the miniature poodle and Tinkerbell the cat, as well as playing netball at her local club.
AJ
Trainee Nurse
AJ has been working at the clinic since early 2024, while also completing her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. She doesn’t currently have any fur babies of her own, but loves giving all the cuddles to the ones in clinic.
In her spare time she loves spending time with her family and friends as much as possible.
